Guess who’s back? Anche quest’anno virus pericolosi, mutanti e stazioni spaziali improbabili tornano in città per il Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. L’inaugurazione ufficiale è segnata dalla cerimonia di apertura, quest’anno per la prima volta nella storia al Politeama Rossetti. Si parte, quindi: un salto nell’iperspazio che trascinerà tutta la città in mondi lontani e inesplorati per 6 giorni.
La data di inizio è Halloween, e proprio questa inquietante notte è la protagonista del primissimo film in sala, un classico del brivido: “La notte delle streghe”.
Ma è solo l’inizio…

Quindici anni fa un bambino vestito da clown uccide brutalmente la sorella. Oggi, e siamo nel 1978, un uomo scappa da un manicomio per perpetrare il suo efferato crimine. Un classico che ha segnato per sempre il genere Horror.

Marjorie Prime + cerimonia di apertura (anteprima italiana)
Il marito di Marjorie è morto ma lei può comunque passare le giornate in compagnia di un ologramma con le sue sembianze.
Basato sul testo teatrale di Jordan Harrison Marjorie Prime, il film sarà il protagonista della nostra cerimonia di apertura.

Guess who’s back? Deadly viruses, mutants and space stations are in town again for the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. The opening ceremony of the 17th edition of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival will be held at the Politeama Rossetti for the first time in history.
The opening film? Marjorie Prime, by Michael Almereyda.
Based on the acclaimed play by Pulitzer nominee Jordan Harrison, Marjorie Prime explores themes such as memory, identity, love and loss in the age of artificial intelligence. Interpreted by a cast of the highest level – Lois Smith, Jon Hamm, Geena Davis and Tim Robbins -, Marjorie Prime made its debut in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Sloan Feature Film Prize, a prize given to the best films dealing with topics such as science and technology.
The program, however, starts even before the opening ceremony, with a revival of the 1978 film by John Carpenter – Halloween, at 5pm at Politeama Rossetti.
On the Halloween night of 1963, in Haddonfield, Illinois, a young woman gets stabbed to death by a little boy dressed as a clown. Fifteen years later, a criminal and sociopath named Michael Myers escapes from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. Dr. Sam Loomis suspects Myers will return to Haddonfield to kill again.
A nightmarish cinematographic experience with a (literally) immortal incarnation of pure evil and the original “scream queen” Jamie Lee Curtis.
The program for the day ends with the screening of It Stains the Sands Red, at 10.15pm at Politeama Rossetti.
In the throes of a zombie apocalypse, Molly finds herself stranded in the desert with a lone ravenous zombie on her tail. Things quickly become a nightmare when she realizes the zombie doesn’t ever need to stop and rest.[:]
