By treating and editing vintage photos live, video artist Claudio Sichel – together with the jazz of the XYQuartet – will lead us into the universe of sounds and stories by the pioneers who first flew in orbit around Earth. We will see and hear the legendary stories of Yuri Gagarin, John Glenn, Malcolm Carpenter and Valentina Tereshkova, from XYQuartet’s album Orbite (Orbits). We will see a truly multimedia show where the music inspired by these astronauts and cosmonauts will intertwine with archive images from the space agencies of the time, conveying the emotions of space exploration by the pioneers of orbital flight.

Crossing the frontier #7- Moon Landings is an ongoing research into borders as physical, political and geographic – but also cultural, mental and gender – boundaries. The subtitle, moon landings, is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first man landing on the Moon, a metaphor behind all the 2019 events fully embracing the many cultural inspirations the Moon provides – even the most light-hearted – including popular culture and contemporary creativity.
Crossing the frontier is a multidisciplinary event produced by Cizerouno, with a series of eccentric incursions into different programs and events. Curated by Massimiliano Schiozzi and Cristina Sain, produced with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region.
