In un futuro in cui i corpi biologici sono sostituiti da corpi biomeccanici, chiunque può cambiare aspetto a seconda dell’umore e a patto di poterselo permettere. Ma coloro che non possono pagare l’affitto di corpi così costosi sono costretti a restituirli. Emma Beaufort vive sotto il peso di questa minaccia.
