Science and documentaries: a study and a proposal of a project for the film market and for science research
Ever since its creation, cinema has always had to do with science and technology, both because of the topics involved and of technoscientific development in itself. And ever since cinema has existed, the tenuous boundary between fiction and non-fiction has influenced the way society perceives science and technology. In the process of “manufacturing” science documentaries, film festivals and the networks that run behind the scenes play a central role, which often remains little known by non-experts. A sociological research is examining this theme, accompanied by the project of a permanent event at a European level, which may create a hub for non-fiction, science and technological film and engage both the industry and the research sectors as well as the general audience.
Speaker: Davide Ludovisi, Filmmaker and PhD researcher, University of Padua (Italy)
