L’Inghilterra entra nel terzo lockdown, tutti i teatri sono chiusi e gli attori Sam e Mark sono preoccupati per le entrate future. Prolungandosi la pandemia, dirottano le loro frustrazioni nel violento mondo virtuale di Grand Theft Auto. I loro avatar rubano macchine, sparano a sconosciuti e in una sessione di gioco si imbattono in un teatro. Idea geniale! Perché non mettere in scena un classico di William Shakespeare, l’Amleto, dentro al gioco? Dopotutto, ai tempi di Shakespeare non era il teatro un’attività similmente pericolosa e turbolenta? E non è questa l’ambientazione perfetta per una tragedia sulla vendetta?

The UK has entered its 3rd lockdown, all theatres remain closed and actors Sam and Mark are panicking about future revenues. As the pandemic drags on they channel their frustrations in the violent virtual world of Grand Theft Auto. Their avatars steal cars, shoot strangers and in one gaming session stumble across a theatre. Brilliant idea! Why not stage a production of William Shakespeare’s classic play Hamlet inside the game? Wasn’t theatre just as dangerous and rowdy a business in Shakespeare’s time? And isn’t the revenge tragedy the perfect choice for this platform?
