Una misteriosa e quanto mai suggestiva pioggia di meteoriti attraversa i cieli della Terra, uno spettacolo meraviglioso, ma che ha l’effetto, il giorno successivo, di rendere ciechi tutti coloro che l’hanno osservato, il che vuol dire, in pratica, quasi tutta l’umanità. Contemporaneamente, da dei semi vaganti nello spazio, forse portati dalle meteoriti stesse, si sviluppano delle piante carnivore e deambulanti che hanno facilmente ragione di un’umanità cieca. I pochi superstiti alla catastrofe cercano di riunirsi per poter ricostruire una società organizzata, mentre due scienziati, isolati su un faro scoprono che per le piante carnivore l’acqua di mare è mortale.
A mysterious and enchanting meteor shower crosses the Earth’s sky, a wonderful spectacle, but the next day, it makes everyone who has seen it go blind, that is to say, almost all of humanity. At the same time, carnivorous, walking plants develop from some seeds floating in space, perhaps carried by the meteors themselves that make easy work of a blind human race. The few survivors of the catastrophe unite to reconstruct an organised society, while two scientists isolated in a lighthouse, discover that sea water is deadly to the carnivorous plants.
