Sull’isola di Erin, in un piccolo e idilliaco villaggio di pescatori al largo delle coste dell’Irlanda, l’affascinante ma pigro Ciaran O’Shea ha il compito di dare il benvenuto a Lisa Nolan, una giovane e inflessibile agente appena sbarcata. Il lavoro non è molto, se si esclude l’aver a che fare con qualche ubriacone occasionale, tra i quali lo stesso O’Shea. Ma ci sono guai in vista: l’equipaggio di un peschereccio scompare, alcune balene si spiaggiano già morte, un pescatore di aragoste cattura una strana creatura tentacoluta. Ben presto appare chiaro a O’Shea e a Nolan che c’è qualcosa di grosso in ballo, ed è affamato. È il momento di radunare i paesani, armare le truppe e… dirigersi al pub.
On Erin Island, an idyllic fishing village off the coast of Ireland, charming but somewhat work-shy Ciaran O’Shea, is tasked with greeting Lisa Nolan, a straightlaced young officer who has arrived from the mainland. Not that there is much for them to do, aside from dealing with the occasional drunk, and that’s usually O’Shea himself. But strange doings are afoot: the crew of a fishing boat disappears, whales start appearing dead on the shore, a local lobsterman catches a strange tentacled creature in his trap. Soon it becomes clear to O’Shea and Nolan that there’s something big out there, and that it’s hungry. It’s time to rally the villagers, arm the troops… and head to the pub.
