In una cittadina costiera tedesca sono successi dei fatti inspiegabili: la marea all’improvviso si è ritirata definitivamente e i bambini del paese sono scomparsi. Dopo anni di ricerche vane ed inconcludenti, due giovani ricercatori universitari decidono di ritornare sul luogo della sparizione per riaprire il caso e cercare una soluzione. La loro presenza è poco tollerata dagli abitanti del paese che vivono incollati al loro dolore e incapaci di elaborare il lutto della perdita, ad eccezione della giovane Hanna, unica sopravvissuta alla scomparsa di massa.
La ricerca dei due giovani protagonisti andrà ben oltre il fenomeno fisico e si addentrerà negli spazi più profondi e rarefatti dell’animo umano, scoprendo risposte possibili a domande universali e circolari.

In a German coastal town some inexplicable events have occurred: the tide has suddenly gone out and the children of the country have disappeared. After years of vain and inconclusive research, two young university researchers decide to return to the place of the disappearance to reopen the case and seek a solution. Their presence is hardly tolerated by the inhabitants of the country who live glued to their pain and unable to mourn the loss, with the exception of the young Hanna, the only survivor of the mass disappearance.
The research of the two young protagonists will go far beyond the physical phenomenon and will delve into the deepest and most rarefied spaces of the human soul, discovering possible answers to universal and circular questions.
