PREMIO ASTEROIDE: TIME LAPSE di Bradley King
Nella tradizione di questo festival, la giuria ha scelto di premiare un vero e proprio film di fantascienza dalla tematica molto importante. La sceneggiatura è molto forte, intelligente e ricca di suspence, e il film è un ottimo esempio di cosa si riesca a fare con un piccolo budget, pochi mezzi ma un’intelligente sceneggiatura nelle mani di un buon regista.
As is the festival’s tradition, the jury decided to award a film that had a truly sci-fi aspect whilst also having an important topic. The screenplay is very strong, clever and full of suspence, and the film is a great example of what can be done with a small budget if a clever script is handled by a good director.

La giuria sceglie di attribuire il Méliès d’argent 2014 a un’opera prima a basso costo che intercetta, proiettandolo in un futuro molto prossimo, uno scenario economico e sociale che appartiene alla contemporaneità. Si segnala inoltre la scelta, in controtendenza rispetto ad altri pur pregevoli titoli della sezione destinati a una sicura visibilità, di recuperare tempi narrativi dilatati in aperto contrasto con la frenetica contrazione dei ritmi imposta dal consumo e dal mercato.
The Jury decided to award the Méliès d’Argent 2014 to this low budget debut film that captures a contemporary economic and social environment and projects it into a near future. The jury’s decision lay principally with the fact that, although there were other creditable titles in competition that are clearly destined for success, this skilfully managed to hark back to a looser narrative style; in opposition with the current trend of increasingly quick-paced story-telling dictated by consumerism and the market.

A film that deals with ‘grown-up’ science-fiction, with its mix of Bergman-inspired atmospheres and the more advanced frontiers of the laws of physics, opening a window into the world of quantum mechanics. In his debut feature film, the director achieves the perfect blend of a greatly innovative theme with a captivating storyline, aided by an extraordinary cast.
