Jonathan è uno schivo aspirante architetto di 24 anni che soffre di una malattia che solo suo fratello John riesce a comprendere. I due dividono un appartamento, lavorano part-time e, a causa dei differenti orari, comunicano solo tramite messaggi scritti, audio e video che si lasciano a vicenda. Da quando erano bambini i due fratelli vivono secondo una rigida serie di regole: ogni giorno si raccontano ciò che hanno fatto e riducono al minimo i rapporti umani esterni. La vita severamente circoscritta di John e Jonathan sembra procedere tranquillamente finché Jonathan scopre che John sta vedendo di nascosto una ragazza: avere una fidanzata è contro le regole!
Jonathan is an unassuming, 24-year-old aspiring architect who suffers from an unusual condition that only his brother, John, can understand. They share an apartment and both work part-time jobs. Because of their different schedules, they communicate by leaving video messages, texts, and voicemails for each other. Since childhood the brothers have lived by a strict set of rules. They inform each other of their daily activities, and keep human interaction with others to a minimum. The circumscribed lives of John and Jonathan seem to be running smoothly, until Jonathan discovers that John has been secretly dating a young woman. Having a girlfriend is against their rules.
